From Europe with Love 👀 December 22, 2024

Check out this minimalist light, a Bond-worthy moka pot, a clever coding toy, a sound system that turns memories into art, and some colorful miniature pots I stumbled upon — all discovered in the last 7 days...

Buonasera from Regensburg!

I don’t know about your inbox, but mine is having its annual end-of-year existential crisis, so I’ll keep the intro short this week.

Let’s dive in. Inbox zero can wait.

Wishing you the happiest of holidays!

With love ☀️

Linear Light [🇳🇱]

The Linear Light by Utrecht-based studio ZOWA is all about “radical reduction” — which sounds like something my inbox could use right now. Clean lines, timeless elegance, and not a single unnecessary frill. It makes you look like you’ve got your life together (even if you don’t). Check it out here.

Gemini Express Moka Pot [🇮🇹]

The Gemini Express Moka Pot isn’t exactly new — it’s been around since the 60s. The twist? It now works on induction stoves. With its sleek, timeless design, it looks like something the cool James Bond (you know, Sean Connery-era) would use for his morning espresso. Timeless, Italian, and built to brew like a pro. See it here.

Cody Block [🇨🇭]

Meet Cody Block, created by Swiss design studio QUBS. Made in Switzerland (of course), this wooden car takes kids on a coding adventure without screens or buttons. It’s simple: you arrange wooden tiles, and Cody drives around following your commands. It’s part toy, part intro to STEM, and so beautifully made, you won’t mind it hanging around your living room. Discover Cody here.

Sonic Heirloom [🇬🇧]

The Sonic Heirloom, a collaboration between London-based design studio Map Project Office and sound design innovators Father, turns memories into timeless soundscapes. Using a portable recording puck, you capture audio moments on the go — anything from a heartfelt laugh to the sound of your dog snoring (hey, it’s your heirloom). Dock it into the playback device, and a resonant bell brings the memory to life, harmonizing its sound with a physical resonance. Inspired by objects like bells and clocks, it’s built to last generations — so your future great-grandkids can finally hear how epic your karaoke nights were. Check it out here.

Miniature Pots [🇬🇧]

For an interior design project, I’ve been on the hunt for clay pots, and these little gems popped back into my notes. I first spotted them in London a few weeks ago, and while they’re not the size I’m looking for right now, they’re too good not to share. Handmade by Yuta Segawa, these miniature pots (just 66 mm) come in a rainbow of colors and have a certain “perfectly imperfect” vibe that only gets better when you see them in person. Check them out here.
