We gave up our address.
You get seven letters.
Each one is a small printed magazine from the town we're living in, with a folded map of it, posted to wherever you are. No. 1 is Merano, the town we left at the start of October.
Get the seven letters →Shipping included, anywhere. 79 € until the print run for No. 1 is set on October 21, 99 € after.
The magazine, A6
Folded A3 map
Artist postcard
Hand-numbered envelope
What arrives in the letter
-
The magazine
A6, pocket-sized, at least 24 pages. What we're doing, where we're travelling to, what we're scouting, and our struggles. Written by both of us.
-
The map
A3, folded. Front: the map. Back: every spot with an address and one sentence.
-
The directory
The one part that isn't paper. Online, and it holds every place we end up loving that didn't fit on the map. It grows while we travel.
-
An artist postcard
Designed by a local artist, blank on the back so you can actually send it. No. 1 is by our friend Kaji Melo. Send it on or don't, it's okay.
-
Design finds
Five or more products from that place, picked the way this newsletter picks them. Hand selected by us. This is curation.
-
One page from the kids
Their version of the same place. We don't edit it.
-
Made by hand
Hand-made and printed in local print shops wherever we are. No AI product.
All of it in an envelope, addressed by hand and numbered by hand. No. 1 is Merano, the town we just left. No. 2 is Portugal. After that we don't know yet, which is the point.
Seven letters, one route
- No. 1 Merano, Italy — October 2026
- No. 2 Portugal — around December
- No. 3 ?
- No. 4 ?
- No. 5 ?
- No. 6 ?
- No. 7 ? — somewhere, 2027
After Portugal we don't know. Mexico is on the table, so is Asia, so is South America. We're keeping it open on purpose, because the whole point is that we don't know yet.
What isn't open: seven letters get made and seven letters get posted. If the trip falls apart for some personal reason we don't expect, you get all your money back, not a pro rata share.
One letter per place we live in, every one to three months. The seventh lands in summer 2027. That part is fixed, even if the places aren't.
The sort of thing that ends up in one
One page in every letter is theirs. They pick what goes on it and we don't edit it, which means it is usually about food, animals, or something that went wrong.
Who's writing
We're Sina and Jakob. For five years we lived in Merano, South Tyrol, and for the last three of them Jakob has sent this newsletter every Sunday: five things from Europe, found that week. At the start of October we put everything into a container and left. The newsletter keeps coming, same Sunday, same five things. Whereabouts is the part that doesn't fit in an email: what it's actually like, on paper, from wherever we are.
Why we're doing this
We're making these for ourselves first. Every place we've lived in has turned into a blur about a year after leaving it, and we'd like to stop that happening. So we write it down while we're in it, print it, and keep one copy each.
It's the same job as the newsletter, really: notice the good things, write them down, pass them on. Only slower, and on paper. Weeks to make, days to arrive, so what ends up in a letter is what was still worth telling a few weeks later.
We're making them anyway. Sending you one costs us an envelope and a stamp.
Fair warning
This will be serious in places. Shops, cafés, brands, the five things, yes. But also the parts that aren't going well, because a year like this has those, and a letter that leaves them out is a brochure.
- Time with the kids. I tell everyone how important family is to me, and right now they see the back of a laptop most of the day. It doesn't add up, and I hate it.
- Making the studio work. It has to pay and it has to stay fun, and AI is eating half of what agencies used to sell. Which might turn out to be a useful restriction.
- A few good friends. Not a big circle. The kind you don't see for two years and pick up mid-sentence.
- Being present.
- Reading fiction. More of it.
These will look different from Porto. That's what the letters are for.
Three ways to get it
One letter, 19 €
- The next letter, its map and its postcard
- Shipping included, anywhere
- You pick the place
Seven letters, 79 €
- All seven letters, all seven maps
- Shipping included, anywhere
- 79 € until the print run is set on October 21
Pen pal, 129 €
- All seven letters, all seven maps
- Two small surprises we found for you on the way, sent during the year
- A handwritten note in every envelope, and a proper back and forth if you want one
- Twenty of these, then it closes
Started with one? The other six are 80 € afterwards, so you never pay more than 99 either way. We send you that link once No. 1 has arrived.
Pen pal is mostly a way of saying thank you. It covers the copies we get wrong, the ones that go missing in the post, and a good part of the stamps. Twice during the year we'll also send you something small we found, tucked into a letter or in an envelope of its own. Wherever we land we end up in the same four places: stationery shops, design stores, museum gift shops, and the kind of concept store that also does coffee. It'll come from there. Probably stationery, but we don't know yet, that's the part we still have to go and find. Nothing from an airport, nothing with the name of the city printed on it.
Capped at twenty, because that's how many extra envelopes we can fill without it becoming a shipping business.
If it isn't for you, just say so. A postcard, an email, one line is enough. We refund everything, you keep what arrived.
If a letter gets lost in the post, we send another.
And if the trip doesn't happen at all, for whatever reason, you get every cent back.
Paper, printing, envelopes and stamps come to about 99 € for the seven. Order before the run is set and you pay 79.
Giving it to someone: put their address in at checkout and write the dedication in the field. We copy it into No. 1 by hand.
- When
- No. 1 goes to the post at the end of October 2026. After that, one letter per place we live in, every one to three months. The seventh lands in summer 2027.
- Where
- Anywhere with a postal service. No tracking, no courier, just the post. Europe takes a week, the rest of the world two to four, sometimes longer. If one never turns up, tell us and we send another.
- Refund
- If it isn't for you, a postcard saying so is enough. Full refund, and you keep what arrived.
- No. It exists on paper. Photograph it and share it, that's fine.
